I’m on the road again, Province.

Thirty-one destinations wait for me. I’m eager to discover the place where each stone belongs. Perhaps I’ll find some great postcards along the way…

Province, we have success!

Christine Bachinsky is the first to discover a Tyndall stone, only days after I left it in the wilderness. Look at this wonderful photo she sent to me upon having spotted the stone in the hollow of a tree at campsite #320 in Douglas Provincial Park. Hooray!

The First Road Trip!

August 26, 2012 § 2 Comments

Hello there, lovely Province.

I’ve just spent a few days getting to know you better, and I must say, your beauty always thrills me. On this trip, I particularly appreciated the wind as it slipped through silvery prairie-grass seas, the cool clarity of lake-water, and the strangeness of sand dunes licking the land.

PS: There are stones awaiting YOU!

Sanding Stones In Wascana Park

August 22, 2012 § Leave a comment

Hello, dear province.

The last few days have been splendid! I’ve been sanding stones in Wascana Park and speaking with lots of people about my project. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and I’m so excited that you’re so excited!

I met energetic friends Roz and Naomi, who visited two days in a row. A 95-year-old woman told me about the time in the 20s when she climbed up into the dome of the Legislative building and carved her initials in the stone. Sherry and Judi brought some small friends and taught me about Adanac, SK. The Browns from Milestone are hoping to discover a stone in their neck of the woods, lovely Leanne spent her lunch break with me, and Déborah worked harder than anyone. All told, it’s been a wonderful experience. I’m very much looking forward to my first road trip tomorrow!
